We all have our own “best” recipes for this Southern delectable. I happened across this one while searching for a cookbook written by an author whose name I can’t recall. She talked about gullah and “dump” cooking. I can see her face — only the name escapes me. Will you try this recipe? I might. Oh yeah . . . I finally got my hands on a couple of Ms. Patti LaBelle’s Pies . Of course it’s not good as homemade; but it’s pretty good. I might buy it again.
